McCracken County Release Meaning
A person who leaves McCracken County Jail can move into several very different legal states. A local bond, recognizance order, dismissal, time-served judgment, or completed county sentence can return someone to the community. A state-controlled person may move to a prison, another jail, parole, or mandatory reentry supervision. A federal detainee may leave because another agency moved the person. Each movement removes the old current-custody entry, yet only some are true community releases.
The official McCracken jail site calls its tool “Current Inmates.” It does not offer a verified released archive. Once a name drops away, the roster stops answering the question. The jail booking and release sheet documents the physical movement. A matching court file explains the legal authority. Kentucky Online Offender Lookup, known as KOOL, supplies state custody and supervision data. Federal and immigration matters use separate systems. That agency split is the key to reading McCracken County release records without confusing transfer with discharge.
- Discharge
- The end of the sentence or supervision shown in the governing record.
- Time served
- A release based on credit for the custodial time ordered by the court.
- Parole
- Conditional community release during a sentence after Parole Board action.
- Detainer
- Another authority's request that can cause transfer instead of community release.
McCracken County Release Routes
Release type controls where the next reliable record appears. Kentucky Pretrial Services works in every county and evaluates people charged with bailable offenses. Kentucky does not use commercial bail bonding. Court-authorized forms can include recognizance, unsecured, surety, cash, property, and partially secured release. McCracken also participates in the Behavioral Health Conditional Release Program for an eligible group of nonviolent, nonsexual cases. That treatment-linked placement is conditional, not a dismissal.
| Release or movement | What follows | Best confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | Community release with court duties | Jail release sheet and court order |
| Time served or local sentence end | County custody ends unless another hold applies | Release sheet and judgment |
| Parole or mandatory reentry | Community supervision continues | KOOL, Daily Releases, District 1 |
| Transfer | Custody continues with another agency | Jail movement record and receiving locator |
| Final discharge | The named sentence or supervision ends | DOC or court discharge record |
Dismissal may end one case but not another hold. Probation can be the original community sentence or follow shock probation. Death is a distinct terminal custody event and must not be described as an ordinary release. The record should state the actual disposition.
McCracken County Release Record Fields
A useful request identifies the existing booking or release sheet rather than asking jail staff to conduct research. McCracken County does not publish a specification promising every field. The safest wording asks for the booking and release sheet tied to a named person, date of birth if known, booking date or date range, and booking number. It then identifies the event data sought. The custodian can disclose the fields the existing record contains, subject to Kentucky law.
| Field to request | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Name and identity data | Connects the event to the correct booking |
| Booking number and date | Separates one jail stay from another |
| Release date and time | Records when physical custody changed |
| Release disposition | May distinguish bond, time served, transfer, or another route |
| Bond or releasing authority | Links the movement to a court or agency |
| Destination | May show community release or transfer |
| Booking photograph | Helps match the record to the right person |
A court docket adds charges, case number, bond orders, judgment, sentence, probation, and later expungement activity. It can outlast the roster entry, but it is not a live headcount. Match the case number and dates to the jail sheet. One closed case does not rule out a hold in another matter.
State release records use a separate field set. A KYDOC Daily Releases line identifies the DOC number, name, type of release, releasing institution or jail, and highest felony class. It does not include a booking photograph and does not cover every local arrest. A KOOL result can add current status, supervision location, sentence dates, conviction data, and parole history. Read those state fields alongside the county sheet only when KYDOC controlled the person. Combining them without first proving state authority can attach the wrong release path to an ordinary McCracken County booking.
Request McCracken County Release Records
Start with McCracken County Jail at 270-444-4730 because the elected jailer and sheriff are separate officials and may hold different records. Ask which custodian owns the specific booking and release sheet. If routed to the sheriff, use the Sheriff's open-records procedure and official form. The county government's form is a routing fallback when the correct county custodian is unclear.
- Give the full name, date of birth if known, booking number, and a narrow date range.
- Request the existing booking/release sheet, release time and disposition, releasing authority, destination, and related photograph.
- Ask whether the movement was a physical community release or a transfer to another agency.
- Use the matching court case to verify the legal authority.
- Keep the response and any cited exemption or redaction basis with the record.
The sheriff lists a five-business-day response period, office hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays except holidays, paper copies at ten cents per page, and photographs or CD/DVD media at ten dollars or actual cost. Those sheriff terms do not automatically govern a jailer-held sheet. Kentucky agencies must provide existing responsive records, but they need not create a new list or answer open-ended questions.
McCracken Release Records Law
The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, supplies the general framework. Its definition includes paper, electronic material, and photographs. KRS 61.872 addresses inspection, KRS 61.880 addresses agency response, and KRS 61.878 contains exemptions. Privacy, active investigations, safety, sealed matters, expunged material, and juvenile confidentiality can limit or redact what is released.
Older court files may be in the clerk's office, at a records facility, or disposed of under a valid retention schedule. A case number and year help staff locate them. Expungement is a later court process, not a type of jail release. When a qualifying expungement order takes effect, public visibility can change. The court order, not a failed web search, establishes that result.
Fees After McCracken County Release
The McCracken jail inmate-services page separates account charges from the court's authority to release. It lists a five-dollar bond fee, thirty-dollar booking fee, and twenty-dollar county-inmate fee. At release, money left in the person's account is applied to fees owed. A person released with a balance may arrange billing, and the jail describes civil or contempt enforcement language.
That accounting does not prove that custody continues. A fee balance and a release order answer different questions. Use the release sheet for the departure and the court file for authority. Use the account statement only for the financial record.
Mixed McCracken County Jail Custody
A dated KYDOC snapshot shows why agency classification matters in McCracken County. On August 21, 2025, the report counted 405 people against 343 beds, including 56 Class D inmates, 46 controlled-intake inmates, 21 parole violators, and 13 federal inmates. These are historical snapshot figures, not current population or annual release totals.
The mix means two people can leave the same building through wholly different legal paths. One can bond back into Paducah. Another can transfer under KYDOC control. A third can move under federal authority. Search the agency that controls the sentence or hold. The building name alone cannot settle the person's legal status.
Find McCracken County Released Inmates
Begin with the exact official current-inmates wrapper. Presence indicates current jail custody at the time checked. Absence does not identify release, transfer, correction, or another agency's action. McCracken County has no verified official 24-hour or 72-hour county release feed, so finding one person requires a matched chain.
- Classify the booking as county, Kentucky state, federal, immigration, or juvenile.
- For a county case, call the jail, request the release sheet, and search the McCracken court docket.
- For a Kentucky sentence or supervision term, search KOOL and the dated KYDOC Daily Releases archive.
- Use VINE for a specific custody status and alert, then confirm its event with the originating agency.
- For federal custody, use BOP, USMS records, or ICE only when those agencies fit the case.
The Released Last 24 Hours page gives the precise same-day request route. A projected date needs a different check because eligibility and actual departure are not the same event.
McCracken KYDOC Release Search
KOOL covers Kentucky prisoners and people under DOC supervision, including some state prisoners housed in county jails. It does not contain every McCracken booking. Start with last name and first initial, then narrow carefully. Open the full result and match its PID or DOC number, aliases, conviction county, photo, and location.
| KOOL field | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Offender Type | Separates incarceration and supervision categories |
| Supervision Status | Shows whether DOC community oversight is active |
| Current Location | May name a prison, jail, or community office |
| County of Supervision | Helps confirm a McCracken link |
| Projected Release Date range | Filters an anticipated window, not an actual event |
| PID/DOC number | Provides a stable identity match |
KOOL updates four times daily, while records newer than 120 days may not be finalized. Expected Time to Serve, minimum expiration, parole eligibility, maximum expiration, and proposed release are different fields. Check the KYDOC Daily Releases archive and the current location after the event.
The official archive interface is shown below. Its dated PDFs list DOC-controlled releases, not all county bond or time-served exits.
View the Kentucky DOC Daily Releases source before using its report date and release type.
The archive supports state-controlled event checks while the McCracken jail record remains the source for an ordinary county release.
McCracken Release Court Records
The McCracken County court page separates Circuit, District, and Criminal District contacts and links the statewide Find a Case service. Search by name and county, then use the case number whenever possible. Read events around the release date for bond modification, recognizance, dismissal, judgment, credit for time served, probation, shock probation, or revocation.
A court order can exist before jail staff complete the physical release process. It can also explain only one case while another hold remains. Pair the court event with the jail's actual release time and disposition. For older files, provide the name, case number, and year because the clerk warns that records can be onsite, stored elsewhere, or disposed of under the retention schedule.
McCracken Post-Release Supervision
KOOL can show a community office as the current location after secure custody ends. That means supervision, not incarceration at the office. District 1 Probation and Parole serves McCracken County from Paducah. Its record fields include supervision status, county of supervision, start date, parole history, and any abscond marker. An abscond marker alleges a supervision problem. It does not by itself prove a new crime or a return to jail.
Paducah also has Keeton Corrections, a community-confinement and reentry site. Moving there can be a lower custody level or supervised placement rather than final discharge. The McCracken parole and probation resource explains how to match KOOL to District 1 and distinguish parole, probation, mandatory reentry, and final discharge.
Travel After McCracken County Release
Paducah Area Transit publishes fixed-route service Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., a general one-dollar fare, no Sunday service, and listed holiday closures. The jail does not publish a standard discharge hour or an official nearby stop. Use the live route map or call 270-444-8700 before relying on transit.
Transportation planning should begin only after physical release is confirmed. A court order, roster disappearance, or VINE alert can precede or lag the actual departure. No official source promises an exit door, pickup area, or release time at McCracken County Jail.
McCracken Release Alerts and Transfers
Kentucky VINELink accepts a name or jail/DOC identifier and may show custody status from the selected participating agency. Choose McCracken County Jail for a local booking or Kentucky Corrections for a state event. Register for an offered phone, text, email, or app alert. The telephone route at 1-800-511-1670 uses a four-digit PIN to acknowledge calls. That PIN does not certify release.
A federal sentence belongs in the BOP inmate locator. “Released” or “Not in BOP custody” speaks only to BOP custody. Federal pretrial movement may require the court or U.S. Marshals Service record. Use the ICE locator only when a concrete immigration basis exists. An ICE detainer can turn county release into agency transfer, not community release.
Juvenile matters are separate. McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Center information belongs with DJJ, the juvenile court, counsel, and an authorized parent or guardian. Adult roster searches cannot establish a youth's release.
McCracken Release Status Sources
No single portal covers every McCracken County released inmate. Select the source by custody and by the question being asked.
| Source | What it answers | Key limit |
|---|---|---|
| JailTracker current roster | Who is listed in McCracken jail now | No verified released archive |
| Jail release sheet | Physical release or movement event | Must be obtained from the custodian |
| Court docket/order | Legal authority and case outcome | Not a live headcount |
| KOOL and Daily Releases | State custody, supervision, and DOC release | Not every county booking |
| VINE | Agency-fed custody status and alerts | Can lag and is not a certified record |
| BOP or ICE | The named federal custody system | Does not rule out other custody |
McCracken County Release Facilities
McCracken County Jail is the adult booking facility and can hold county, state, and federal populations. Local community exits need its release sheet and court record. State-controlled exits also need KOOL. McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Center uses confidential youth channels, not adult searches. Keeton Corrections in Paducah is community confinement, where a person may remain an inmate or under supervision.
Where someone goes next is therefore part of the release record. Confirm the destination, controlling agency, and court or sentence authority before describing the movement as discharge.
